About Us And How We Operate
We are a varied and interesting mix of friendly people. We currently have around 90 members, mostly aged 45+. Our strong common bond is an interest in the countryside and outdoor activities, which are run throughout the year.
New members are always welcome. Our programme allows for a wide range of abilities but, even though there are less physical events in the programme, this is not purely a social group. If a member is participating in an event it is expected that they will be able to meet a reasonable standard of fitness and capability.
The photos on this website are all taken by members on CWOG events.
CWOG is a member of The Walking Partnership and anyone booking a holiday with Ramble Worldwide can nominate CWOG to receive some funding. For further information see the following link:

Programme of Events
Below is a link to a typical programme. As a member you can attend any event on the programme. The description of events in the programme will provide a guide of the length of the ride or walk. The leader will send a more detailed description close to the event date and ask for those interested. It is therefore possible to check with the leader that the event is right for you.
The group programme is totally dependent on activities planned , setup and led by members. If you can offer to do that for the group then you will be very welcome. If you have never done this, but want to learn how to do it, then we have members who will help you to go through the checks that must be carried out and how to handle the activity to ensure safety and smooth running.
There are guidelines which cover all participants in activities and more for leaders. Again, an existing experienced member can help take a new member through these guidelines. You will be provided with these as part of the process of becoming a member.
Participants in events are expected to wear appropriate all weather clothing and carry sufficient drink and food, plus reserves, to cover the event. Some routes will pass shops, cafes or pubs where provisions can be obtained but some may not. Leaders will advise the situation before the event.
There are ways to share transport for those who want to. The cost is covered by those sharing. Most walks and rides are circular but some are linear and some car sharing is arranged for these. Some events involve the use of public transport.
Below is a link to a typical programme. The actual programme will be sent to you on request or as part of your enquiry about membership.
The programme is held in Google calendar and is available to any member to link to their own calendar system. members can choose to have notifications sent to them about changes and additions to the programme. A printable file of the schedule is sent by the Programme Planner for those who prefer that format.
